Second spell Teaching Practice- weekend reflection 1
As a part of our B. Ed curriculum our second spell teaching practice started on 06/07/2022.It will ends on 26/08/2022.For second spell teaching practice we a group of six students got S. K. V. V. H. S. S school, thrikkannamangal. Our group consist of both physical science and social science students. We got portions of physics and chemistry from the concerned teacher. Before coming to the school we have prepared five lesson plans and the required teaching aids. Also the school has assigned a specific class for us.
Our second spell teaching starts on July 6, 2022. We have reached the school as early as possible. We handed over register to the headmaster and we marked our attendance. This second spell teaching practice gives a variety experience for me. Because in the first spell, due to covid restrictions there is only twenty students in a class. But now the scenery is entirly different.
On the first day i have faced a lot of difficulties in handling the students because in a class more than thirty five students are present in a class. The main difficulty I am faced in the classroom is to maintain the discipline. On the first day the concerned teacher also helped me to maintain the discipline in the class. Also apart from this I got many substitution periods in the UP class. I have done small activity oriented class to them. I have started my first lesson plan in 9B.it was a physics class. I couldn't complete my lesson at that class.
On the second day i tried to engage the students through activities. But in second day also I feel difficulties in managing the class. Also I got a lot of substitution periods in class 5 and seven. I have given a lot of interesting games to them. Also I have motivated them to participate in the game. Because some students feel shyness in participating in the games. Also I teach them some multiplication tricks. I understand that solving mathematical problems is also a good technique to engage the students.
On the third day i got both chemistry and physics class. I think controlling 8th standard students is also a difficult process. I tried to engage them in lesson by showing a video. Also I have prepared potassium permanganate solution. The students are highly interested in doing the experiments. And in class 9 B, I have introduced the concept graph. But i couldn't complete the lesson because I have to give the notes along with the class.
From these three days i understand that a lot of improvements is needed for me. I have to complete the lesson plan within the alotted time along with maintaining the discipline in the class. I have to engage the students with maximum activities.
